Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is an open-world Western action-adventure video game published by Rockstar Games and developed by Rockstar San Diego. On October 26, 2010, it was released as a downloadable expansion pack to Red Dead Redemption for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The game follows John Marston as he seeks a cure for an infectious zombie plague ravaging the American Old West. Undead Nightmare is played in an open-world environment from a third-person perspective, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The virtual world, a fictionalized version of the Western United States and Mexico, can be explored primarily on horseback and foot by the player. Hordes of zombies roam the globe, frequently attacking towns. Gunfights highlight the “Dead Eye” gunslinger gameplay mechanic, which allows players to mark multiple shooting targets on enemies in slow motion. With the release of Undead Nightmare, two new gameplay modes were added to Red Dead Redemption’s online multiplayer mode, allowing up to 16 players to engage in both cooperative and competitive gameplay to recreate the single-player setting. Undead Nightmare generally received positive reviews upon its initial release. It received year-end awards, including Best DLC from several gaming publications. In October 2011, a Game of the Year Edition was released, including Red Dead Redemption and all additional content.
