Square Enix’s World of Mana / Seiken Densetsu series continues with the release of the fourth installment, titled Dawn of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 4). As an action game with exploration features, the gameplay involves navigating stages full of difficulties including feats of dexterity, solving puzzles, and destroying creatures in a variety of different methods. The tale takes place not long before the Sword of Mana. It’s not a role-playing game like the others in the series, therefore you can’t really call it that.

The actual gameplay is broken up by cut scenes that tell the story and show the plot using the game’s characters and settings, as well as voice-overs, narration, and still images. Keldy, the primary character, is controlled by the player, and she is armed with a sword for close combat, a whip for seizing and flinging, and pellets for long-range strikes. Only music tracks and movie clips can be purchased, in contrast to the other Mana games, which feature shops where players can purchase new goods or upgrade existing ones. Keldy is unable to improve his performance in combat with anything other than specific ribbons and unique arrows. Emblems, which are dropped by foes and can also be purchased in the shop for the Challenge Arena, are the primary means through which players can acquire enhancements. In most cases, they improve the character’s fundamental capabilities. In addition, you can cast one of seven distinct spells to use magic.

The story is broken up into eight chapters, and the game also includes a mode called Challenge Arena. In this mode, players are tasked with completing 32 different challenges, and they have the option of using a pet to assist them, which can be purchased in the game’s shops or obtained through eggs found throughout the world. The Havok physics engine is utilized in this game, and as a result, Keldy is able to wield his whip on virtually all aspects of the setting. This is further encouraged through the game’s Mono system, which, when activated, causes panic among foes and makes boost medals available. Objects that are hit in the vicinity of adversaries have the same effect.
