18 Persona users find themselves unable to escape the maze-like confines of a bizarre otherworld as the ominous bells of Yasogami High School begin to ring. They have been sent there. There, they run upon Zen and Rei, an eccentric couple who have both forgotten parts of their past. While everyone gets together to try to find a way out of the situation, a mysterious shadow keeps getting closer…

The last new Persona RPG was released in 2008, and Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is the first available on a Nintendo device. Participate with the cast of Persona 3 and Persona 4 in an all-new storyline rendered in a visual style that you’ve never encountered before. Pick your favorite characters from any game to fill up your ideal roster. You will have to utilize the power of your Persona to discover a way out of the Labyrinth. This game is a seamless fusion of the fighting systems from two popular RPG series created by ATLUS, Persona and Etrian Odyssey.

The gameplay of this game has strong ties to the original Etrian Odyssey. Players travel what appears to be an unending maze from a first-person perspective and engage in turn-based combat with Shadows, much as in Persona 3 and Persona 4.

The twenty different characters that the player may control can be organized into parties of up to five members, each of which has its unique conversation.

The two new characters, Zen and Rei, will work together as a single entity throughout the game, with Rei specializing in healing abilities and Zen employing more physical combat techniques.

Support characters like Fuuka Yamagishi and Rise Kujikawa, who can be chosen for the position and have their support talents, are not counted among the twenty playable characters because they are not considered part of the cast.

Both party members and support characters can be switched out as necessary during the game. Unless the player is playing on the Risky difficulty setting, the game will not finish when either protagonist exhausts all of their health like it did in the games from which they were adapted.
